Has it been, like the LONGEST January EVER?!! I realise we’re in deep winter still, but there was sun yesterday, and our 2018 of fun seems that little bit closer, so lets plan some foodie fun!
I rarely get my act together for these sorts of things, (please visit My Marlow or Muddy Stilettos for far more organised listings of our Bucks area…Marlow btw if you haven’t already had that beaten into you via my various social media), but when awesome events are literally on my doorstep, then its my duty to announce their awesomeness and make a bit of a thing about it, because I have friends here you know, (well they say they’re my friends)!
So our local hero, Michelin-starred chef and TV personality Tom Kerridge last year hosted a fabulous food festival called Pub in the Park, and was a massive success, (see 2017 post) – I mean, Michelin starred Pubs all in one place, superstar chefs Josh Eggleton, Paul Ainsworth and Tom himself cooking up a storm alongside the sounds of Razorlight, Tom Odell and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, what’s not to love?!
Try not to salivate at this, but Pubs and restaurants confirmed for Pub in the Park Marlow include two Michelin-starred The Hand & Flowers and The Coach (Tom Kerridge), Pony & Trap (Josh Eggleton) and Paul Ainsworth at No 6 (Paul Ainsworth), all of which hold Michelin stars. Joining them will be National Restaurant Award-winner The Hardwick (Stephen Terry), multi-Rosette winner Sindhu (Atul Kochhar) and the deluxe re-imagining of the Great British pub, The Wigmore (Chris King). The Star Inn (Andrew Pern) an award-winning gastropub that champions local, seasonal ingredients as well as Berners Tavern, the highly decorated and celebrated London gem under the direction of Michelin-starred Jason Atherton, and Heston Blumenthal’s highly acclaimed gastropub The Crown at Bray (Matt Larcombe) will all appear.
I’m planning to attend the Saturday afternoon slot, as I’m a bit of a Soul II Soul Sound System fan…I say ‘bit’…my all time favourite song ever is ‘Keep on Moving’…I HAVE to be there for them! Just to hear Jazzie B’s soulful tones make me cry…I’m not joking!
Tickets for this delicious festival go on sale officially the 2nd Feb, but if you sign up on the pre-sale thingy, you get first dibs, because you don’t want to miss out really, you need to do this before TODAY 31st Jan at 2pm, (sorry, realise this is really last minute). I’m lucky and live in Marlow, so after a few Hope & Harrows, I’m staggering distance – however, should you be looking for THE cleanest, THE friendliest, THE cosiest place to stay a small walk away, then look no further than my gorgeous pal Lily Grant who owns Glade End Guest House B&B – very handy, as she’s a local and knows all the inside info!
And don’t think we Marlovians are the only lucky ones, this brilliant foodie festival will also be touring at…
- Bath, Royal Victoria Park 8-10 June
- Tunbridge Wells, Dunorlan Park 6-8 July
- Knutsford, 7-9 September
Finally Pub in the Park is delighted to confirm that Hospitality Action is its charity partner. Hospitality Action is Tom Kerridge’s chosen charity, and offers vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK and who find themselves in crisis. The festival will be supporting their work with a number of fundraising initiatives.
So can’t wait!!
