just doodlin…
A little while back I mentioned I was planning to re-design my blog, I had a few ideas in mind but because I’m still getting to grips with the geek side of blogging (I’m no techno girl…unless it’s of the musical variety such as a shadowy dance stint in Altern8‘s video), I still don’t really know how to do a custom header! But once I do, I’m going to apply one of my main loves which is illustration.
I went to fashion college in the early 90′s because I wanted to use these skills. I never used it to actually be a fashion designer as I decided to try marketing roles for various lifestyle brands, mainly PR. I don’t regret this as I’ve seen how hard Fashion Designers work and how sometimes, in the more commercial areas of fashion, it can become a little …well…commercial! I’m also quite happy doing what I do.
Recently though, I did a couple of doodles for my fab online friends Sian from Geek Is New Chic, Claire from Bad Fiction, Ryan of Transatlantic Blonde and the fabulous Viviana from The Lean Times. I never thought it could turn into anything serious until Ryan mentioned that maybe I should offer this little service to others who might like my style of illustration. So I opened an Etsy shop offering commissions for anyone who has an idea and would like to turn it into a one off illustration for their blog/avatar/logo/poster/something to be framed for the loo/etc – I’ve called it Popsy Illustrations - I need some feedback for this by the way. Each illustration will be an original, (no prints…unless someone wants me to of course).
I’m not sure if I’ve over-charged/under-charged, etc – I’ll learn as I go along I guess, but if you do like the featured pics and would like something for yourself, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Just comment at the end of this post and I’ll get back to you on your email address.

Great illustrations and a really good idea. Love the Chic Geeks. GG
I bet you have a few illustrations up your sleeve too…St Martins don’t let just anyone in you know!

Sweetheart, have wished for so many years that you would do something productive with your natural talent – ever since Ravensbourne (too many years ago!!) and had a sneeky feeling that you would once you’d put behind you the necessary experiences in other fields, and we’re so proud of you, You will gain confidence and untold imagination for your clients as time progresses. Your logo ‘Popsy’, taken from the names of your/our adorable Issy and Poppy! Well done, my love. Mummy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
